Foot and Ankle surgery

We Are Experts in Surgical Foot Care

Utah’s Foot and Ankle Surgeons

For Athletes

Surgery can help your painful injuries heal correctly and ensure your feet and ankles continue to function optimally and perform as well as you do, long after the injury has healed.

For Families

Foot and ankle surgeries are not one-size-fits-all. We know foot conditions need to be accurately diagnosed and meticulously treated to avoid complex issues as we age.

For Older Adults

Foot health becomes increasingly important and complicated as we age, so we keep our senior care plans simple and thorough, providing the best possible outcome.

At Rocky Mountain Foot and Ankle, we are not only podiatrists but also highly trained foot and ankle surgeons who understand optimal performance and the complexity of the lower extremities.

While treatments and procedures change, the injuries remain the same. Learn more about common foot and ankle injuries, conditions, and surgical treatments below.

bunion-surgery
Bunion Surgery

If you have tried other treatments and the pain of a bunion interferes with daily activities, it might be time to discuss surgical options. Together with your foot surgeon, you can decide if it is time to reverse the deformity in an effort to eliminate the pain.

tailors-bunion
Tailor's Bunion

Foot surgery is usually considered when pain continues despite non-surgical, conservative treatments. Surgery for a tailor bunion, or bunionette, consists of removing the bunion, and in most cases, improving the alignment of the little toe by making a cut into the bone to reposition it.

ankle-fracture-blue-cast
Ankle Fractures

Treatment for ankle fractures depends upon the type and severity of the injury. Immobilization can allow some injuries to heal, but others will require ankle surgery to repair the fracture. If you have a fractured ankle, our ankle surgeon will discuss your options with you in detail.

hammertoe-surgery
Hammertoe Surgery

Hammertoe treatment largely depends on the severity of your hammertoe. If your hammertoe has become more rigid, foot surgery will likely be recommended to relieve the pain and discomfort you are experiencing.

failed-nerve-decompression
Failed Nerve Decompression

Nerve compressions can cause painful tingling. In the lower extremity, the main sites of nerve compression are the tarsal tunnel and the deep and common peroneal nerve. Many undergo surgery to relieve these compressions. Releasing the pressure on the nerve allows the nerve to resume normal and pain-free conduction.

total-joint-surgery
Total Joint Surgery

Replacing the ankle or toe joint with an artificial implant is used to correct worn-out or damaged joints, typically caused by arthritis. Total joint surgery is typically recommended to eliminate pain and swelling when other treatments have been unsuccessful.

achilies-tendon-repair-surgery
Achilles Tendon Repair

The type of ankle surgery performed to repair the tendon, and the technique used, depends on the injury. Treatment can consist of removing any damaged part of the Achilles tendon, stitching a ruptured tendon back together, or even replacing part of the tendon.

nerver-entrapment-foot-doctor
Nerve Entrapment

When physical therapy and other conservative treatments for nerve entrapment pain and tingling are unsuccessful, you may need foot surgery for lasting relief. The method used to decompress the nerve depends on the location and cause of the pain, but this foot surgery is typically minimally invasive.

reconstructive-foot-surgery
Reconstructive Foot Surgery

Birth defects, certain diseases, and trauma can cause the decreased function of the foot and ankle due to musculoskeletal deformities. Reconstructive surgery is a highly specialized field of medicine, performed to correct the anatomy of the foot and ankle, and provide treatment for various disorders.
